Gymnastics Classes
FOR KIDS
The gym is a great place to hold your child's next birthday party! For $125, you get 10 kids and 90minutes in the gym to play, eat and do gifts! We provide all paper products and a little giveaway for each child. Please see this Birthday Party Info Packet for additional downloadable information.
If you enrolled your child for class or another event, and they attended but either didn't like it or don't want to attend anymore, please read below entitled CLASS WITHDRAWL and also refer to the above section entitled REFUNDS.
CLASS WITHDRAWL
If your child is enrolled in class and attended the first week but does not want to come anymore, you have this ONE WEEK to receive a refund, either partial or "full" (minus membership fees), depending on the situation. It is required that you call us immediately when you learn your child does not want to return, or immediately when you have decided they will not return. YOU HAVE ONE WEEK to do this. Week One begins when class #1 begins and ends when class #2 begins. We will expect that your child will not attend week two's class. If your child attends week #2's class, the refund opportunity will be disqualified. If you do not contact us after week #1's class and week #2 occurs and you have still not contacted us regarding a withdrawl, the refund opportunity will be disqualified. Any contact after week #2 of is any given class term is grounds for no refund being issued. Any refund, whether full or partial, will NOT include the membership fees paid.
FAMILIES HAVE ONE-WEEK TO REQUEST A REFUND ONCE CLASSES BEGIN. AFTER WEEK #1 OF THE TERM, REFUNDS ARE NOT AVAVAILABLE. See paragraph above.
Students should wear tight-fitting workout-style shorts or pants, and a tight-fitting t-shirt. Shirts should be long enough to tuck-into pants when necessary. NO BUCKLES, ZIPPERS, BUTTONS or SNAPS! Hair must be secured away from the face and shoulders. Bare feet are required in the gym. No jewelry.
ONE PARENT/GUARDIAN may watch their child's class BUT MUST RESERVE THEIR SPOT AHEAD OF TIME.
We continue to limit spectators inside the building. Please contact us at 231-845-1385 if you wish to observe your child in class. NO SIBLINGS may come observe: ONLY ONE ADULT PER CHILD IN CLASS. If you choose to observe, you must remain in the parent viewing area and/or waiting room.
PARENTS AND UNENROLLED CHILDREN MAY NOT ENTER THE GYM AREA FOR ANY REASON.
Beginning at 18 months, you may bring your little one to our specialized Tiny Tots class! We begin working with your child at an early age to help develop gross motor skills, listening, turn-taking, rhythm and music skills and following-direction skills. One (1) authorized parent or guardian is required to participate in class with the child, and this person acts as a helper and guide to the child. Your child will remain in this class until the class coach and Flipstar's head coach determine if the child is ready to be moved into an independent class.
We have room to rent you space for everything from Cheer groups who may want private gym time, to classes or meetings. Please contact us for more information on how we can help you host a great gathering!
Once your child is developmentally ready, our coaches may recommend we move them into the Tumble Tots class. One (1) authorized parent or guardian is required to participate in class with the child, and this person acts as a helper and guide to the child. This class builds strength, confidence, listening skills, memory and overall independence. Children move into this independent class when they are ready, not necessarily at a birthday or when a friend does. We work closely with you as the parent to insure we make the best decision at the right time for your child's ultimate success. Music is used in this program, too. Your young gymnast will learn without realizing they are working hard! Your child will remain in this class until the class coach and Flipstar's head coach determine if the child is ready to be moved into an independent class.
Kids who demonstrate mastery of the skills being taught in Tumble Weeds classes MAY be assessed by our head coach with our without your knowledge. Should the child be determined to qualify for this harder version of gymnastics classes, they MAY be invited to join Intermediate or Advanced Tumble Weeds. We will discuss findings with you, should your child be determined to be ready for this move. If they are not ready to move, we likely will not discuss anything with you since there will be no change of anything yet. This assessment is BY OUR DECISION ONLY. We do not assess kids from a parent request.
These classes are designed to introduce your child to the foundational skills needed for the sport of gymnastics. Since gymnastics is a sport built upon mastery of basic skills, you will see kids working on cartwheels, handstands and other drills almost non-stop during their class "career." These are just a couple examples of the basics and, once mastered, we then introduce additional skills that build upon the basics. You can never do too many perfect pull overs on bars, perfect jumps onto the vault, perfect full turns on beam or perfect leaps on floor! Mastery is what matters here, and we will work the skills and drills until your child had developed a natural muscle-memory of the proper way to execute the skill! We change-up the practice drill to keep class interesting and keep kids on their toes!
Private lessons are available on a limited basis. Coach availability and gym availability must align. We evaluate this request on a case-by-case basis. Please call our front desk for more information.
If you find yourself in a situation that affects your child's attendance, please contact us right away. We will do our best to work with you to find a solution. These are the gym policies that we adhere to:
- Flipstar's Annual Membership Fee is non-refundable.
- Programs at Flipstar are non-refundable. This includes all class tuitions, day camps, clinics, all special events and any/all other children's recreational programming offered through Flipstar.
- We acknowledge there are sometimes special circumstances such as injury. In this case, a doctor's note on official letterhead is required to be submitted immediately following any diagnosis that may sideline your child from the activity. From that point, we will make a plan with you.
Flipstar offers a full competitive program for women's gymnastics. These classes are by invitation only. We are constantly evaluating and discussing the progress and potential of each child in recreational classes. If your child shows mastery of the basics, the parent is usually the last to find out! If we think your child is a good candidate for our competitive program, we will ask the parent if your family might be interested in having your gymnast evaluated for team. If you agree, our head coach will test her and make a determination based on the mastery of skills. If she proves to be ready to "move up", we will contact the parent and discuss placement options.
Team placement is solely based on skill mastery, coachability and the overall potential demonstrated by the child. We still keep things fun, but the child who has been invited to join our team program will have additional expectations that must be met. We go over everything with the parent to make sure those expectations can be met before official placement on team.
Payment for classes is due in-full at the time of registration and enrollment into the class. Payment is the only way to reserve your child's spot in any given class. Class spots are limited and are first come, first served. Your child will not be permitted to participate if you have not paid or owe a portion of the balance during the term for the remaining classes left of that term. Once your balance is paid in full, your child will be permitted to resume class participation. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Your child is expected to show up for their registered class each week ON TIME. WE DO NOT CREDIT FOR MISSED CLASSES. Your family is given ONE (1) MAKE-UP CLASS PER TERM regardless of the reason for missing class. Make-up classes must be pre-scheduled with us at least one (1) week ahead of time. Your make-up class date and time options will be determined by availability: make-up classes are only available if there is room for an extra child in an age-equivalent class. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
With a gym full of children ranging in ages, sizes and working on different skills, we always have safety at the forefront of our minds. All coaches have a constant eye on what each child is doing, where they are, and if it's a safe scenario for everyone. We will take action to address any situation deemed unsafe. WE USE TIME-OUTS and/or other safety measures. If/when a child is corrected by a coach but does not respond to the coach's behavior request, this may cause a safety concern. If you see a coach taking a disciplinary action with a child (time-out, sitting aside, etc.) this is for the protection of that child and for all other children in the gym.
WE WILL USE DISCIPLINE TO MAINTAIN CHILD SAFETY!
If we have inclement weather which forces the cancellation of classes, we will try our best to have the class cancellation announcement made by 2pm. We almost always follow decisions made by Ludington Area School District. Please call us (231) 845-1385 &/or check Facebook: http://www.Facebook.com/FlipstarGym
CLASSES CANCELLED DUE TO ANY WEATHER-RELATED CIRCUMSTANCE IS BEYOND OUR CONTROL AND WILL NOT BE SCHEDULED FOR A MAKE-UP DATE.
